Poor Sick Kami

Our poor little Kambri ended up very sick with a kidney infection. We took her into the doctor and normal white blood count for her age should be 10,000 and hers at the time was 21,000. Our doctor was very concerned and she was not keeping anything down and he was afraid she was quickly becoming dehydrated. He gave her an antibiotic shot in the office and told me if we weren't able to get some fluids in her and for her to be able to keep them down that we'd need to send her over to the hospital later for IV fluids.

Indeed, that is just what we had to do. She was so brave and started doing noticeably better towards the end of the bag of fluid. Our doctor is wonderful and knows that my mom is a nurse so he told us to have them leave the IV in her so if we needed to run another bag of fluid the next morning, and that my mom could just do it from home.

We took her back in the next morning to have her white count tested again and it had dropped dramatically but the doctor on-call suggested that we still give her another bag of fluid.

So this is our rigged contraption that we came up with to hang the fluid. However, it gave us some fits so we went into our work and hooked her up with the IV pump. She continued to be such the lil' trooper through it all, and even had 'her boy' to comfort her.

It took a couple rounds of antibiotics to get the infection all cleared up but she is doing GREAT now! We are so grateful for such a knowledgeable and caring doctor and feel very lucky to have a grandma who is a nurse! She does many house calls. :)

We're so glad you're back to your old self Kami!

SO glad she's healthy again. She broke her Sissy's heart being so sick and miserable. Here's to a healthy winter now! Everyone's had their turn so enough's enough right?
