Our excursion to the Scrapbook Expo

Me, my mom, and Lindsay had a wonderful time at the Scrapbook Expo on Friday. We got down there early afternoon and stayed until midnight. We didn't really get much accomplished in the way of 'work', but we sure bought a lot. :) There were so many great deals to be had and we had a ton of fun! We have already planned that next year we'll be overnighting down that way and going both days. Thanks Mom and Lindsay for the fun time!

I also got to see my dear, sweet Emily! Ever since she moved to Idaho I think we've seen each other twice. It was so good to see her and I only wish we could've spent more time together.

These pictures are from the brief 1 hour we may have spent at the table trying to look productive.

This picture shows the remaining $$ left from the cash I took down with me. It's $1.09 to be exact. I thought it was absolutely hilarious.

If you are into scrapbooking and have never made it to the expo, you must plan now to attend the next one! :)

Are you ready for this???

Well I decided it was time for a post again, although I don't really have anything exciting to share! So I'm going to do a random post of what we've been up to. (Hold on to your drawers...this is exciting!)

#1- I went to my friend Amber's house last week and she taught me to make some bows! I had such a great time, thanks again Amber. We will most definitely be planning a time to get together again soon. I needed that, I've become somewhat reclusive over the years.

#2- I've been busy as all get out trying to get all these minutes done. I do the minutes for Perry City Council and there have been several extra meetings lately. So instead of spending my 'me' time at night doing something fun...that's what I've been trying to do.

#3- My neighbors lost their house and they basically turned it into a dive on the inside and out. So I've been trying to clean up some random stuff outside, as the junk has been driving me crazy since we moved in...but now I feel like I CAN do something about it. (p.s. I'd really like a good little family to move in there and it's supposedly going for WAY cheap if you're interested in a fixer-upper.)

#4- Taylor got a queen size bed from his Grandma Brenda that he is thinkin' is pretty sweet. He loves to tell everyone, "yeah...my mom slept in a twin size bed until she got married." He thinks it's hilarious, what a stinker! :)

#5- I've been planning on repainting my kitchen and tearing down this old border but I keep fighting against myself. I just want to relax!! (It never really happens with my mind...only at naptime.)

#6- My mood has been so much better this last week. PRAISE THE HEAVENS FOR SPRING WEATHER!! I needed this more than I even realized. I've been in such a slump, and I'm feeling rejuvenated again.

#7- I've been working on going through my scrapbook supplies/pictures trying to get a better system. I will have it figured out sooner or later. :) AND, I'm going to the Scrapbook Expo this Friday with my mom and Lindsay! I'm way excited. (I don't know if I'm more excited about the actual expo or just the fact of playing all day/night.)

#8- Started a Biggest Loser Contest at work. We're 2 weeks into the 12 weeks that it's running. Totally sucked the 1st week, but this week has been comin' along alright. Go Kellie!

Well, I've decided that that's enough for now! My ramblings are jumbled, but I think that should catch things up to speed. :)

A Sunday Drive...to the ER!

It's a frequent used phrase about "out taking a Sunday drive..." right?! Well, we had a Sunday night drive to the ER.

The girls and I were finishing up a fun evening of playing together and it was nearing bedtime on Sunday night when I hear a blood curdling scream coming from Hollie. Without sharing too many gory details and protecting her privacy to some degree in the matter, here's what happened.

Shaun and I recently got a new bed and it is quite tall, so Kambri pulls over her little folding chair to climb up on. Hollie evidently was staying/playing around on the chair, came down and straddled it and REALLY hurt herself. We had a lot of bleeding and she was in an enormous amount of pain, rightfully so. After we get her laid down on the floor I immediately call my mom who is an RN and she says she'll be on her way.

Poor girl is just a shaking and freaking out. I was really afraid she was going to go into shock so I kept my focus on calming her at that point. And the poor thing is crying and asking things like, "am I going to die?" She was so scared, it just broke my heart aside from the pain she was obviously in.

After we checked her out a bit we decided it'd be best to take her to the ER and have her checked out. It was quite the traumatic event due to obvious reasons. But after all was said and done, the doctor said it would heal alright and just gave a few suggestions for keeping her more comfortable in the process. And the little stinker, as soon as we got out she called her Aunt Sissy to tell her what happened and she's bubbly as ever and telling her it was "fun". Fun is the last word I would've used to describe what we just encountered with her. I guess that's good that it wasn't overly traumatizing! :) So, we told her she was brave and because of it Grandma Leslie bought her a Slurpee and gave her a $1. So Hollie has been telling everyone because she was brave she got a slurpee, money, a sucker, a hospital bracelet, and a picture in her gown. What a trooper! Why do emergencies always happen on holidays, weekends, or after hours? Never fails.

Before...waiting for the doctor to come in...

After...albeit sore!

She is still a bit sore, but doing better. And so the world turns.

We love to see the Temple!

Last Saturday my family, Lindsay's family and my Mom went to the Draper Temple Open House. It was a really neat experience and I'm glad we had the opportunity for my kids to be able to see inside a temple. I vaguely remember going through the Bountiful Temple before it was dedicated, mostly what stood out over the years was how beautiful it was. I don't know that you could ever get completely use to the beauty in the temples. There are so many things that are breathtaking. It was neat to be able to answer my kids' questions and some of Lindsay's from firsthand experience and I need to work harder to be a continual example to everyone around me.

I needed some reinforcement and direction to get back to the temple. My goal I've set is to go once a month and it's definitely time to go again. I don't know if everyone struggles in the same way I have but I quickly learned that even after you go through the temple the struggles may increase rather than decrease. I feel like I have to work at things even more so than before, That's not a bad thing, but I was not prepared for that aspect of it. I suppose it's a test of our faith and commitment.

It was a really neat experience to be in the sealing room with my entire family and just envision the day that we can be sealed as a forever family. The kids were all well behaved, I was very impressed that way.

Poor Kami though. As we were getting off the bus at the temple Kami fell down off her seat and bumped her ear. It immediately turned black and we thought it was from dirt or something. Oh no, my poor girl really hit hard. I've been meaning to take pictures of it, but it's finally looking decent and you wouldn't get see the same effect now. On the way home she kept saying everyones name and then 'temple'. "Mommy temple, Daddy temple, etc." It was so stinking cute!

I suggested to both Taylor and Hollie that they write down their experience so they have it to look back on. This is what Hollie wrote about it:

"What I like about the temple. I like all the room. It was rilly fun. It was a long way but it was still fun. I went to the Draper Temple." And then she drew a picture of her by the temple.

She also wrote a separate note that said: "I wanted my Grandpa to be there but I on (know) he is there. He was a teesr and he had a cane that he want to trick me. I loved him very very very very very much." This was of course near and dear to my heart and made me so happy to think that while we were there she thought of him. Coincidence? Definitely not!

It was a wonderful night and I'm so glad we made the time to get down there.
